Aboon Product, Billing & Support

Billing & Product

How does billing work?

Aboon provides two service levels: Core (plan document management) and Core Plus (everything in Core plus plan administration support).

Aboon bills the client directly on a monthly subscription. Clients set up a payment method (credit card or ACH) at signup. Fees may be tax-deductible as a business expense; clients should confirm with their tax advisor. Aboon fees are are not deducted from plan accounts.

What's the difference between Core and Core Plus?

Core is a plan document service. It includes the IRS pre-approved Solo(k) plan document, all required amendments and updates, a client portal, annual plan document check-in, and compliance reminders.

Core Plus includes everything in Core, plus plan administration services including Form 5500-EZ preparation, contribution calculation support, and distribution support with 1099-R reporting.

If your client only needs plan document maintenance, Core is a great fit. If they need support with plan administration and reporting, Core Plus may be more appropriate.

Core is available now, while Core Plus will be available later in 2026. Clients who want Aboon’s plan administration support for their Solo(k) can start on Core now and join the in-app waitlist. They'll be notified when Core Plus is available and can upgrade then, with no need to redo the plan document.

Can a client start on Core and upgrade later?

Yes. Clients who start with Core can move to Core Plus when needed.

How does billing work?

Aboon bills the client directly on a monthly subscription basis. Clients set up a payment method (credit card or ACH) when they sign up. Fees are not deducted from plan assets. Aboon's fees may be tax-deductible as a business expense, but clients should consult their tax advisor.

Distribution fees are charged to the payment method on file if the client subscribes to Core Plus.

Support & Ongoing Service

What support is available to clients?

Aboon provides support through in-app chat and email ([email protected]). Chat is available during regular business hours. Email inquiries receive a response within 1-2 business days.

How does Aboon handle annual compliance?

For Core - Document Maintenance Only: Each year, the client completes a brief digital questionnaire through the Aboon app to confirm their plan is still eligible for the Solo(k) treatment and to flag any changes needed.

For Core Plus - Document Maintenance and Administration Support: Clients log into the Aboon app, provide their plan information, and answer a few questions. Aboon assists with plan administration, including Form 5500-EZ preparation, contribution calculation support, and distribution processing support.

Who handles distributions?

With Core, distribution processing works the same way it does today. The client handles it directly with their financial advisor and any parties that assist with related tax reporting.

With Core Plus, clients can request distributions through the Aboon app. Aboon provides processing support instructions, and the 1099-R is issued after year-end.

If something goes wrong with the plan, who's responsible?

The client is the plan sponsor and is ultimately responsible for their retirement plan, as is typically the case under a prototype plan document service. Aboon provides the tools, documents, and (for Core Plus clients) administration support services to help them stay compliant with plan rules. If an error occurs, Aboon offers plan correction services as an additional engagement. Clients can also work with their own tax advisor or attorney.
